What this page covers

This website, mytutorcalgary.ca, is operated by deenSTRONG, trading as My Tutor Calgary, at Savanna Center, 30 Savanna Crescent NE, Calgary, AB T3J 2E9 (“we”, “us”). This page says what personal information the site collects, why, where it goes, how long we keep it, and how to ask us about it. Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) applies to us.

What we collect and why

The enquiry form. When a parent or guardian sends an enquiry, we collect the parent’s name, email address and phone number, and the child’s grade and the subject they need help with. We use this only to answer the enquiry and, if you go ahead, to arrange tutoring. We do not ask for the child’s name, date of birth or school on the form, and we ask that only an adult fills it in. If you tick the optional referral box, we also pass your name, phone number and email to Be Happy Counselling Services Ltd for that single purpose, as the form explains.

The tutor application form. If you apply to tutor, we collect your name, contact details, education, subjects and availability, and use them only to consider your application.

Google Ads cookies. We advertise on Google. A Google tag on this site sets cookies and similar identifiers that tell Google whether a visit came from one of our ads and whether it led to an enquiry (conversion measurement), and that let Google show our ads to people who have visited this site before (remarketing). Google receives your IP address, the pages you visit here, and an identifier for your browser or device. Google is a company outside Canada and holds this information on its own systems under its own policies. The tag is loaded only after you choose “Accept” in the notice shown on your first visit.

Hosting logs. Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps standard server logs of requests to the site (IP address, browser, pages requested, time) for operating and securing the service. Vercel’s servers are outside Canada.

We collect nothing else. We do not use analytics beyond the Google tag described here, and we do not run social-media tracking.

Where your information goes

Enquiries and applications are sent to us as email through Resend, an email delivery service in the United States, and then kept in our mailbox.
Ad-measurement and remarketing data goes to Google (Google LLC, United States, and its affiliates).
Site logs are held by Vercel (United States).

We use these three service providers outside Canada for the purposes stated above and no others. We do not sell personal information, and we do not give it to anyone else except where the law requires.

Cookies and how to say no

The Google Ads cookies are not needed for the site to work. You can:

choose “Decline” in the notice shown when you first visit, and the tag will not load or set cookies;
turn off ad personalisation and remarketing for your Google account at Google Ads Settings, or install Google’s opt-out browser add-on;
block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to tutoring: deleted 12 months after the last message.
Enquiries that lead to tutoring: kept as part of the family’s record for as long as we tutor the child and for 2 years after, then deleted.
Tutor applications that do not lead to work: deleted 12 months after the last message.
Google’s cookies expire on Google’s own schedule, which Google publishes, and sooner if you clear them.
Vercel’s logs are kept by Vercel for its own short retention period and are not kept by us.

Children

This site is for parents and guardians. We collect the child’s grade and subject from the parent, not from the child, and the parent gives that information on the child’s behalf. If a child has sent us an enquiry directly, tell us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You may ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you or your child, ask how we have used or disclosed it, and ask us to correct it or delete it. Write to info@mytutorcalgary.ca or to Savanna Center, 30 Savanna Crescent NE, Calgary, AB T3J 2E9. We answer within 45 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, oipc.ab.ca.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new date. We do not apply a change to information we already hold without telling you.
